About

Hello. How are you? Here’s all you need to know about me:

-I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist.
-I love Blues, Psychedelia, Progressive Rock, and Classic Rock.
-I collect “Recordings of Indeterminate Origins”.
-I think the music industry is broken.
-I love guitars.
-I am also an atheist.
-I’m a bit of an antitheist.
-I’m a feminist ally. Problem? Get over it. Women are people, too, and have so much to contribute… ideas, thoughts, opinions, innovations, discoveries… and I support all of that, because women are more than just their bodies. Misogyny and MRA bull is not welcome here.
-I do think science is a threat to faith in that the more scientists discover about our Universe, the more gaps for God to hide in are closed.
-I’ve been branded a socialist, so fine. Whatever.
-Every now and then I somehow have the courage to talk about sex.
-I love stand-up comedy.
-I love talking about science, especially Astronomy and Physics, and every now and then I make myself look ignorant by trying, and failing spectacularly, to pretend at being a Theoretical Physicist.
-I love talking about evolution and making fun of CreIDiots (Creationists & Intelligent Designers… they’re really one and the same, but the latter won’t admit it).
-I’m not the biggest sports fan, but I love the ATL Braves.

And that’s me, and what you can expect here, I think…

  1. I stumbled here looking for the original post re/ Karen Stollzknow that Scientific American had removed. I stayed and read a bit and have bookmarked your blog for future. And I’m a big “Led Zeppelin” fan too although I don’t think I can bear to hear “Stairway to Heaven” one more time in this life.

Hi Nathan. I noticed you have numerous articles that would be of interest to teens and families. We have a website, http://www.FamilyFirstAid.org, which I believe would be a great resource for your website visitors. Please check it out and consider adding us as resource to your blog list.
    Thanks,
    Brenda W.

Ah! You had me until you said six little words, “….but I love the ATL Braves.”

Oh well, if you were completely perfect, I’d probably would have stopped reading a long time ago due to boredom. I guess I’ll hold out hope that one day you’ll see the light and wander away from baseball towards the one and only sport that is capable of holding the attention of my ADD-muddled brain: football. (Actually, I only watch the Saints, otherwise I can’t be bothered. The Saints are the closest thing to a religion that I actively pay homage to. I pray to the almighty Breesus.)

But other than that tiny snafu, I am with you on almost all your other points. I can’t really hang with Astronomy or Physics because of the aforementioned ADD, but I wish I could. I’m more of a mathematics kinda girl/dork/whatever.

It refreshing to find other atheist bloggers that hold many of the same beliefs and principles that I do. I’ve enjoyed reading you blogs this evening, Nathan. As far as I can tell, you’re good people and there should definitely be more out there like you. I look forward to reading your future posts.

If you’ve got time on your hands, and have absolutely nothing else to do, I thought you might like to read a little (re: really long) blog I wrote a WHILE back. I think it’ll appeal to your little liberal/socialist/communist/feminist heart. Did I mention I’m a sarcastic ass? I wrote this before the election when I was about to implode from all the ignorance being shoved in my face on social media sites from so-called “friends” and family. I love the South for many reasons, but I’ll tell you, I think the severe heat down here in the Dirty South makes people stupid. I don’t know how they function in everyday life. It boggles the mind. Anywho, I’m rambling now as my meds wore off long ago. 🙂 Stop on by if you get the chance. http://wp.me/p1mm8d-91.

    Until next time…

I will definitely let you know if I’m ever in NY, though I have to admit I’m not sure when that will next be…

      • Well, I’m in my last yr of school, after I get my associates I wanna do some traveling of my own with my music, so maybe we will run into each other somewhere,,, 🙂 I’ve been trying to catch up on your blog, nice to see so many things I agree with for once! Thanks for the follow! I have 6 followers now hehe, for some reason that makes me feel so important.

      • No problem. And good luck with your music. I know how that goes… believe me… 😀

      • I’m still waiting on the step from street performing to playing in shitty bars to pop up hehe… Thanks! Good luck to you as well! I’d love to sing some blues with ya, if you know any leadbelly or skip James 😛 but I’ll stop taking up your wall, feel welcome to email me whenever, larabethg@gmail.com.
